Diabetes is a dread disease. And it isn't only people who suffer from it; dogs can, too. Meet Duffy, an Irish Terrier rescue who knows firsthand how awful the disease can be. Benjamin May's family loved their dog, and when diabetes took his eyesight, they went to work to see if he could get it back. With the help of two very talented veterinarians, this story has a happy ending.
The Veterinary Referral Center in Malvern, Pennsylvania, took on Duffy's case in a two-step process that restored his sight again. Dr. Kevin Kumrow regulated Duffy's diabetes so that Dr. Brady Beale could perform the eye surgery that allowed the dog to see his family again.

Duffy had enough problems even before he lost his eyesight. He struggled with his health, but his family loved him just that much more. A normally happy dog, when diabetes claimed his sight, Duffy wasn't the same.

That's certainly understandable. How would you feel if you went from seeing the faces of those you love to not being able to see anything at all? Fortunately for some, including Duffy, sometimes the blindness is reversible.

Once the surgery was over, Duffy was ecstatic to see the May family again. The video shows how he goes happily from one member to the other, greeting them with a wagging tail and a doggy smile on his face.
Do you take your eyesight for granted? I hope not, because you are not promised a single day, not to mention good health. Take a tip from Duffy and live each day as though it were your last, rejoicing in the love of your friends and family and when you can, do good to others. You never know when your life may change.
