When old dogs find themselves in a predicament because of their age, Vintage Pet Rescue steps in to solve their problems. A retirement home for senior dogs, there really isn't an age requirement for four-footed residents. So when Kristen Peralta heard this story, she eagerly took a puppy in.
Vintage Pet Rescue is meant to be a place where senior dogs can live out their golden years in comfort, surrounded by lots of friends of both the two-legged and four-legged variety.

So accepting a puppy into the mix was highly unusual. But the puppy named Trigger had a very special need. He had been surrendered by the family who had earlier adopted him because of "frequent urination."

It turns out that Trigger couldn't help it. After a veterinary exam, the diagnosis showed that he was suffering from stage four renal failure. His kidneys were dying on him, and the prognosis was grim: five months left to live.

But Trigger doesn't seem to know that he is sick. In fact, he acts just like any normal, healthy puppy would. He loves to play—constantly! While most of the senior dogs want to spend their days lying around and sleeping, this happy puppy wants to romp, run, and wrestle.

Fortunately for him, eleven-year-old put bull Asher has decided playing with Trigger is much more fun than lying around with the pack. Trigger has breathed fresh life into several of the senior dogs and for the next few months, he will be around to help them remember what earlier life was like. We're so glad that Trigger will spend his last months in a place where he is loved and well cared for!
What do you think? Is a retirement home the right place for this terminally ill pup? Some people would simply have put him to sleep. Aren't you glad Kristen decided to do something different? Share this story and leave us your comments!
