Barry Gearhart loved his senior dog Titan, a pit bull he had raised from puppyhood. They were inseparable.
But one day in 2016, Barry was devastated to come out to his truck from an errand and find Titan gone. Titan had been stolen right out of the truck.

Gearhart, a resident of West Palm Beach, Florida, was determined to get his dog back, but he had no idea how to go about it. He put up Lost Dog posts on Facebook, but no one ever called. He said later that he "cried every day."

But there was no sign of Titan anywhere. It's common for dogs to be stolen for dog fighting rings, especially pit bulls, Many are killed, with the more docile dogs used as bait for the fighters. This may have been what happened to Titan.

A year later, all seemed lost. Then one day, Gearhart got a comment from a local shelter. A volunteer there had seen Titan's picture on social media and realized it looked like a dog at the shelter that had been picked up as a stray and nursed back to health. The twist? The dog was scheduled to be euthanized in two days.

Gearhart rushed down to the pound, where he had a heart-warming and overdue reunion with Titan, renamed Hank. Titan is now back home with his owner, safe and sound after a year.
