Two-year old Bella is a little firecracker, full of energy and eager to experience the world. But what's a tiny dog to do when she's too short to enjoy all of those experiences?
Bella's solution is to team up with her best friend, 10-year old Golden retriever named Hank, who loves Bella so much that he willingly allows her to climb on his back while he carries her around.
“They absolutely love each other,” said Adriana Burkhart, Bella’s mom. “Bella lives with me and Hank stays at my parents, but whenever I bring her home they both go crazy when they see each other. They're both cuddle bugs so they sleep together a lot and Bella will chase him around and try and play tug of war with his tail sometimes. He's so much bigger than her that he just sits down and she stops.”
Perched on Hank's back, Bella gets a different perspective on life, and her best buddy is more than happy to chauffeur her, whether they are taking a nap together on the porch, investigating the backyard, or waiting in the kitchen for dinner to cook.
“Pretty much every day Bella is at least laying on him,” Burkhart said. “She'll also jump on him when she needs a boost. She's the smallest of our dogs so she gets on him when she needs attention. She's used him as transportation around the house, a napping spot, a stepping stool, and even to get high enough to jump over a gate.”
But lest you think that Bella has the advantage in this relationship, it benefits Hank just as much. Without little Bella to keep him moving, Hank might just lay down and sleep all day.
“Hank is getting pretty old so it's good for him to have a dog like Bella that keeps him active — but he doesn't have to try and keep up with her too much,” Burkhart said. “She entertains herself but loves to mess with Hank while doing so. He'll run around with her but when he gets tired he can sit down and she'll just hang out on top of him for a while. They are the best.”
For Bella and Hank, the sky's the limit; together, these two cute dogs can achieve anything. Share this story of their unique and endearing friendship with your friends and family on Facebook!
