For the second time that day, this dog had come begging for food. The first time, tantalized by the delicious smells of the grilled chicken, she accepted the offering and trotted away. But the second time she came begging, the photographer decided to follow her and see what she was up to.
Weaving through the marketplace, the dog was obviously on a mission. Not stopping to take even the smallest bite of the food, she led the photographer on a trek between and through the stalls at the bazaar.
She sometimes stopped and looked back to see if she was being followed, and only seemed a little hesitant when she realized that she was. Pausing momentarily, she made the decision that the people who fed her twice could be trusted.
Down a narrow walkway and into a tiny “courtyard” trotted the dog, pausing only briefly to be sure he was still following, she led the photographer to her secret place.
Then, lo and behold, puppies emerged from their hiding place.
Mama dog dropped the chicken for her little ones to eat, not taking any for herself. The pups quickly devoured the meat and then, as though knowing where it came from, they went to the man with the camera to see if he had more.
When you see the dedication this mother has for her offspring, it will stir your heart.
